Magalies Gliding Club

Leave the noise of the road behind and experience the quiet of unpowered flight at Orient Airfield. Across the festival weekend, Magalies Gliding Club invites you onto its 235-hectare home to watch the flying, explore the grounds on foot or by bicycle, and settle in at the clubhouse or pool.

The headline experience is an approximately 30-minute introductory glider flight over the Magalies landscape. With no engine running, the flight is shaped by the wind, rising air and the view from above—a completely different way to see the valley.

Introductory flights cost R1,500 per person. Groups of five or more can ask the club about a group rate, while general visitors who prefer to stay on the ground enter free.

Booking is essential for anyone who wants to fly. Every launch is weather-dependent, so keep your plans flexible and confirm your slot directly with the club. Visit Friday to Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00.
