We have noticed your interest in the Magalies Business & Tourism Forum (MBTF). Thank-you!

We believe that together, we can make a difference and build a strong business sector in our area which includes Magaliesburg, Hekpoort, Skeerpoort, Tarlton, Vlakdrift, Syferbult, Maanhaarrand, and the direct surroundings. We embrace our business and local community in the following ways and the main benefits which you will receive when joining the MBTF are:

  • The MBTF Exec – you will have 12 dedicated MBTF Executive members looking out for your business interests and for possible influences on your business and opportunities – each with a different skill set and open, at all times to discuss your needs and suggestions.
  • A dedicated MBTF admin to assist with communication, advertising, and administration needs
  • Communication – what’s HOT, what’s happening, what to prepare for and what to look out

  • Input and action on local governance and statutory matters with open communication with Mogale City, Gautrans and other official organisations to assist in keeping our town clean, safe and beautifying of the area, Also, addressing matters of public safety, Fire and Safety and various Security companies as well as public services provisioning. Membership also provides individuals with a forum from which to engage with local government and large corporations on issues such as environmental impact assessments, town planning, economic development etc.

 

  • Networking opportunities include bi-monthly breakfasts where we exchange valuable business and information on what’s happening in our area.

 

  • Connecting and working together and exploring opportunities with other organizations such as local and national government and tourism role-players such as; the Magalies Biosphere; The National Small Business Initiative, Magalies Meander; Cradle Tourism association; Magalies Development Initiative; Magalies Child Welfare; Happy Yappers animal sanctuary, and other local charities; Disaster management; the police and local sector and Community Policing Forum; Rustenburg, the West Rand and Harties tourism associations; and the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, to name but a few. These affiliations give you access to all the benefits and opportunities offered by all these organisations.

 

  • Annual Magalies Rocks the Cradle weekend festival has been happening since 2016 and is organised by the MBTF Exec Committee to offer local businesses the chance to showcase what they have on offer. It also creates awareness of our area as a destination of choice, which, in itself, has had a much bigger impact than merely the immediate business which is created over that specific It is affordable and we encourage everyone to participate.

 

  • Info Centre where members can leave info and brochures, flyers and business cards – to promote their businesses – free of charge.

 

  • Annual Golf day in June/July to showcase and create awareness for the Magalies Rocks the Cradle weekend festival and also, to generate funding for this event. (not held over the past two years)

 

  • Business Expo in June to showcase the businesses in the Magalies area (not held over the past two years)

 

  • Creating greater awareness of our area and exploring opportunities through the media – be it social media, printed media, television and radio. (This has been very successful to date, through FIESTA, MOOILOOP and other TV programs, as well as previous radio awareness campaigns with HOT91.9 FM.)

 

  • 12 strategically placed You are HERE Billboards which are updated annualy to create awareness and provide visitors with an easy overview of what is on offer in our area. These information boards give our members an affordable advertising opportunity (from R15/billboard/month).

 

  • Printed Map and brochure – annually updated, we have distributed more than 150 000 of these folded brochures at different venues in and around Magalies. It gives all members the opportunity to list your business at no additional cost and also provides some advertising These publications have proved to be very popular and effective.

 

  • Magalies Tourism Portal – free listing for all MBTF members on this fabulous website which focuses on tourism and offers online booking opportunities. It also links enquiries straight to your own Online visibility about what we have on offer is very important and this offers exactly that, even to the smallest of businesses.

 

  • Magalies Cares – connecting with our local charities and schools – giving them a platform from which to communicate with businesses and residents from the We currently have about seventeen honorary members.

 

  • Safety and Security monthly meeting initiated by the MBTF with private security companies and the police and roleplayers

 

  • Magalies Historical Society is an initiative closely associated with the MBTF, consisting of a very active group of people, focusing on the history of our area and surroundings. With monthly get-togethers and outings. Free membership and no entry fees to talks – except for what you consume at the meetings.

 

We are a self-funded organisation with 85 members and 18 honorary members currently. Apart from membership fees and the occasional donation towards a specific project, we receive no external funding. The MBTF Exec Members do not receive any remuneration and they all give their time and energy towards Magalies on a pro bono basis because of their passion for promoting our beautiful area. We work according to the tenets of a solid and thorough constitution, annually audited financial statements, as well as an annual AGM for our members.
